5 Ways to Promote your event on LinkedIn for Free

LinkedIn is has become the world’s largest professional social networking site. Just like every other platform, you are able to set statuses, “like” things, and join groups, but it’s even better because you have direct access to other professionals who can both offer you industry advice and serve as potential clients.

With over 400 million users, LinkedIn gives you the ability to promote your message to an audience that will actually see it. Unlike the tricky algorithms of other social media sites, LinkedIn still allows you to organically reach a large audience without spending a ton of money on sponsored content.

Here are 5 ways to promote your event at no cost to you:

Create a new Group

Just like Facebook, LinkedIn allows you to create “groups” of connections to better facilitate conversation amongst you. If you already have a list of individuals you want to know about your event, invite them to the group and share your message. This allows them to be aware of both your potential guest list and all of the key details regarding your event.

LinkedIn Groups

Leverage your existing membership in groups to spread the word about your event. This is easy access to hundreds of connections who are bound to see your message. Be intentional with your posts by selecting the groups that are relevant to your event and not spamming the feed to the point that you get kicked out of the group.

Create a status

Similar to Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn allows you to post simple status to update your network. This is the most simple way to promote your event on your personal page. Changing your status to include an attention-getting image and key details about your event such as the speaker, time, date, etc. will allow your followers to stay updated. Include a call-to-action such as a link to register and a request to “like” or “share” the event.

Target LinkedIn Invitations

LinkedIn allows you to target specific existing connections to direct message. You are able to deliver a message to 50 connections’ inboxes each day, making your odds of a read-through skyrocket. Within this message, you can either ask them to share/promote your event to their connections or you can simply invite them to attend.

Your Profile

Just like your old Myspace page was used to display all “about you” utilize your company LinkedIn profile to share information. Upload the PDF version of a marketing piece regarding your event or the video from last year’s event onto your company profile. Then whoever visits your page (you will get notified ) will see all the details of your event.
