Face Driven Treatment represents a paradigm shift in orthodontics, surgery and interdisciplinary treatments. Occlusal correction becomes a partial objective that has to be considered in the context of the face. The position of the upper incisors are part of a unit (nose lip unit) that is critical to the aesthetic outcome. We need to differentiate between position of the framework of hard tissues (jaws and teeth), form of hard tissues, and enhancement of soft tissues in order to obtain a prope...

The position of the upper incisors are part of a unit (nose lip unit) that is critical to the aesthetic outcome. We need to differentiate between position of the framework of hard tissues (jaws and teeth), form of hard tissues, and enhancement of soft tissues in order to obtain a proper “Mimesis” of what is attractive in nature, the final objective of our treatment.
At the conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. Occlusion Driven Vs. Face Driven Treatment
2. Nose Lip Unit
3. Three Levels of Intervention for the Face

The peri-implant restorative interface is a highly relevant subject for scientific research, as it may be the key to longevity of implant restorations and sustainability of implant esthetics.
Different factors have been identified and reported to interact with the peri-implant tissues, respectively influence the vertical localization of the crestal bone and the dimension and localization of the peri-implant soft tissues. These are the individual morphotype, the peri-implant tissue quality, the restorative environment, and the property of the abutment, including nature of the abutment connection.
At the conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. How to design individual abutments in the esthetic zone
2. How to shape the peri-implant soft tissue apparatus with surgical and
restorative approaches

Abutment Solution for Achieving Esthetic Implant Restorations
In recent years there has been a dramatic change in the type of restorations offered to patients nationwide. A rapid development in new technologies made implant placement easier and more available for an increased number of patients. Traditional "bridge work" or FPD without implant support are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Today’s patients, when presented with different types of treatment options for their problems, are choosing implant placement for their missing teeth rather than 3 or more unit bridge. The same can be seen with fully or partially edentulous patients opting for an implant supported fixed denture or a bridge, rather than removable prosthesis. With such a rapidly changing environment, many restorative dentists are struggling with proper type of implant abutment selection. Too many choices can often be confusing and can result in inadequate esthetic outcome. Different types of implant abutments, material selection and fabrication will be discussed in order to better understand their clinical indication or contraindication.
At the conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. Various types of implant abutments available
2. Material selection, fabrication techniques and procedures to manufacture various types of implant abutments
3. Clinical indication or contraindication for specific types of implant abutments

After the surgical phase starts the soft tissue management phase. A provisional restoration can be used to shape the soft tissue in an optimal form before a ceramic restoration will be placed. During this lecture, biologic principles of the implant position and soft tissue management will be discussed and illustrated by clinical cases.
At the conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. 3D implant position in the aesthetic zone
2. Soft tissue shaping during the healing and maturation phrase
3. Communication of the soft tissue shape to the laboratory

Mastering Shade Matching - Transfer of Color Readings and Images to Tooth Color Reproduction on all Ceramic Restorations
Over the past few decades, many color measuring devices have been introduced, however there has not been a reliable device that can provide precise readings and images for clinical dentistry. Successful color reproduction of natural teeth requires advanced techniques based on color science and artistic skills. Base shade selection and value control play critical roles in obtaining excellent color match in all ceramic restorations. This process requires accurate color determination using precise color measurement and an understanding of the three dimensional characteristics of texture and translucency. A sophisticated system which can provide accurate color readings and images is highly desirable in the digital era. Recently, a total color management system employing a compact digital camera and innovative software has been developed. This system can deliver not only tooth images, but also precise color readings. In this lecture, the application of this system for color determination, communication, and reproduction will be discussed.
At the conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. Accurate color determination using precise color measurement
2. Transfer of color readings to tooth color reproduction
3. Understanding of the three dimensional characteristics of texture and translucency

Interdisciplinary Resolution of Breathing Disordered Sleep: Moving Beyond Oral Appliance Therapy
The future of dentistry is the concept of Airway and the 21st century practitioner must be forward thinking in not only the various types of mandibular advancement appliances to manage the disease but also surgical and myofunctional options to resolve the problem. This evidence-based lecture will provide restorative dentists with the foundation to differentiate between the categories of sleep disordered breathing and tools to determine the proper referrals for resolution. Interdisciplinary dental care requires a skillful integration of multiple specialties. Airway resolution is no different. While orthodontic and orthognathic concepts are familiar, comprehensive restorative dental plans will routinely encompass otolaryngology and myofunctional therapy. These primary or adjunctive treatments will be reviewed.
At the Conclusion of this lecture participants will have gained an understanding of:
1. Formulating an interdisciplinary airway treatment plan
2. Surgical Options for resolution of apnea
3. Myofunctional therapy for improving tongue posture, airway tone and nasal breathing
